Haywood W. Guion was a lawyer of Lincolnton, N.C. The collection includes scattered correspondence dealing chiefly with legal business, but touching on personal affairs and politics. Also included are letters from John W. Guion while he was a student at the Bingham School, 1829, and the University of North Carolina, 1833; an undated petition to divide Lincoln County and establish a new county seat; a political speech written by Haywood Guion, circa 1840; and a student notebook, 1838, containing notes on the study of the law.
